Bekaert Corporation has been able to utilize its 125+ years of coating and galvanizing experience in order to create a product which exceeds galvanized C coating corrosion requirements. This has been verified in independent tests undertaken by various laboratories, including "BELLCORE". In addition to lab results, BEKAERT conducted several field tests throughout the USA.
Bezinal® (Bekaert Zinc Aluminum) is a 95% Zinc + 5% Aluminum (+Mischmetal) eutectic alloy that exhibits remarkable coating corrosion resistance and adhesion ("formability"). The product provides the exceptional corrosion resistant properties by the combination of the passivation corrosion characteristics present with aluminum together with the sacrificial protection offered by the zinc content of the alloy.
Bekaert ensures that all of the exceptional properties offered by Bezinal® are guaranteed by strict compliance with the AST B750 (Galfan) standard which specifies the quantities and limits for the homogeneous mix between the aluminum and zinc elements.

Furthermore, Bekaert has undertaken years of research relating to the application of the coating, separating the product from many who do not have such technology. The Zinc-Iron-Aluminum alloy layer formed between the Bezinal® coating and the steel substrate is exceptionally ductile and corrosion resistant, leading to exceptional coating adhesion and corrosion resistant properties which are not compromised during subsequent bending and forming operations.
When comparing the corrosion properties of Bezinal® with galvanized (zinc coated) product, numerous accelerated corrosion tests (for example: salt spray to ASTM B117), together with extended coastal field trails, have indicated that Bezinal® outperforms galvanized product by at least 3 to 1 (for the same coating weight) in many applications.
